Ball State University English Department ... Muncie, IN

Student Association for Graduates in English (SAGE)

SAGE is an association comprised solely of English Graduate students (both M.A. and Ph.D.). Our purpose is to represent all graduate students within the department and, with their help, make an effort to better the programs offered here at Ball State.

Our purpose is simple. We wish to:

  • improve the communication both among graduate students in English and between students and faculty and to provide a social arena for that purpose;
  • aid the professional development of graduate students by learning to pool our knowledge in an effort to develop the skills that are needed to function as professionals in English professions—not only teaching;
  • pursue opportunities that will advance the professional and political position of English graduate students;
  • begin conducting various fundraisers to support travel and/or study grants to MA and PhD students;
  • host a variety of guest speakers.
  • support and promote the various professional development sessions offered by GSAB, including but not limited to their Friday Forums

Please Note: Every graduate student in an English program at BSU is automatically a member of SAGE. Meetings for SAGE will take place approximately once a month during each semester, and all graduate students are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19 at 12:00 pm, Room TBA.

Want to run for a SAGE executive board position for the 2006-2007 school year? email SAGE@bsu.edu to nominate yourself on or before Friday, April 14.
